Day 1: Hanoi arrival (D, GP)
On arrival at Noi Bai Airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel.
In
the evening, you’ll have tickets for a performance of traditional Water
Puppetry, an art form unique to northern Vietnam, and a good,
light-hearted introduction to its rural culture.
Overnight in Hanoi.
Day 2: Hanoi Orientation – Cyclo cruising around Hanoi’s Old Quarter and shopping (B, L, D, G)
After breakfast, your guide will take you to Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum,
his simple stilt house where he lived and worked, and the museum
dedicated to his memory.
In the afternoon, you’ll cruise ride around the Colonial and Old
Quarters on a cyclo to discover the city’s architectural mixture of
French colonial style, social realism (mostly public buildings -
designed or influenced by the USSR), pagodas and communal houses with
many Chinese features, merchants’ residences, ‘tube’ dwellings, modern
buildings and vernacular houses.
If you fancy shopping, Silk Street
in the Old Quarter is a good place for art galleries, embroidery,
lacquer ware, silver articles, and jewellery.
Overnight in Hanoi.
Day 3: Exploring handicraft villages around Hanoi (B, L, D, G)
After breakfast, you’ll visit Van Phuc village, famous for making silk.
After lunch, your guide will take you to Bat Trang village, 15km east
of Hanoi and famous for making fine ceramics. On arrival, you’ll be
able to stroll in the small alleys of this old village to watch local
people producing their fine products and visit some of the houses used
as workshops and showrooms. You’ll then drive to Dong Ho village (famous
for its traditional paintings). You’ll have dinner and spend the night
in Hanoi.
Day 4: Hanoi – Departure (B, GP)
It is your free time for shopping in Dong Xuan market, Old Quarter
(Hang Gia, Hang Dao, Hang Ngang Streets) or Vincom or Parkson Commercial
Centre until transfer to airport for flight come back home. End of
tour.
